Every year on AJ Bell Great Manchester Run weekend, we feel the city come alive and our Manchester runners blow us away with their commitment to the party. But who said it had to stop at the finish line?
As soon as you’ve got your hands on your finisher’s t-shirt and medal, head for the Apres Zone. Here, you’ll find more music to complement the high-energy soundtrack you’ve enjoyed en route, plus food stalls, drinks and places to mingle, sit and soak up the electric atmosphere. There’s also the charity village where, if you’re one of the thousands of runners raising millions of pounds for good causes, you’ll find even more treats in store.
Whether you’re running the 10k or the half marathon, the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run ends on Deansgate: one of the city’s most iconic and historic streets. Great news if you want to extend the celebrations – you’ll be spoilt for choice for places to continue the party.
First up, there’s Deansgate itself – a mile-long stretch of food, drink and retail outlets boasting high-street favourites and local legends. Close to the finish line, there’s also Great Northern Square, where a Grade II listed warehouse offers food, drink, leisure and entertainment options aplenty.
And beyond the square, Spinningfields beckons with copious casual dining and drinks options, from the humble Costa to the city’s highest rooftop restaurant and bar. If you want more of a wander, there are also plenty of shops and the People’s History Museum nearby, open 10-5 on Sundays (kitchen open until 4pm).
We can’t wait to celebrate with you in true Mancunian style. Three, two, one, let’s go!
