A team of 43 runners from The Ivy Collection, including members of staff from The Ivy Spinningfields, are set to take on the Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run as part of an exciting challenge set by Operations Director, Laura Bamber.

Over 40 runners from a number of the brasseries across the UK and Ireland will take part in the 10k event when it returns to Manchester on Sunday 19 May.

Over half the team are staff from The Ivy Spinningfields in Manchester, which opened last year and has just undergone a refurbishment of its beautiful Roof Garden space.

Among the partipants is the company’s Operations Director, Laura Bamber, who had the idea to set the team a special challenge ahead of the event.

Laura Bamber said: “I’m very excited to be taking part in this year’s Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run, as are the rest of the team.

“Everyone has been training hard and it will be a fantastic team building exercise. We have everyone from our Area Chef, Marco Thorrington, to Ettienne Riechmann from our bar team in Manchester taking part.”

The runner with the fastest 10k time will be awarded with an extra paid day off, with Laura taking over the reins of their shift for the day. The group have signed up to the Engie Business Challenge at the Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run, which is a race within a race, where companies across the city can encourage staff to take on the event and encourage a healthy outlook for employees.

The challenge is supported by Manchester Chamber of Commerce and welcomes small, medium and large businesses to take part in teams, with the fastest overall company in each category winning an engraved trophy.

The Engie Business Challenge is part of a huge day of running in Manchester, with 30,000 people taking on either a 10k or half marathon distance, as well as junior and mini events for children.

The Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run is known for its buzzing atmosphere, incredible supporters and booming anthems that rock the city’s streets.

Starting on Portland Street and finishing on Deansgate, participants are treated to a host of exciting on course entertainment showcasing the heritage of Manchester’s music scene, from charity cheer buses, DJs and live bands to samba dancers and choirs.
