Team Hallé At The Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run
For the 13th year in a row members of Team Hallé are training hard for the Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run events.
Members of the Orchestra, Hallé Choir and the admin team are combining forces to raise money for the Charles Hallé Foundation – their own charity that supports all of their ensembles and work across the community through Greater Manchester and beyond.
Last year Hallé teams were runners up in two categories of the Business Challenge so the competition is on this year to see if they can improve.
Eleanor Roberts, Deputy Director of Development said: "All of the runners have their own reasons for running – for some it is a once a year challenge, for others it is one race of many each year. As a Team it is a rare opportunity for disparate parts of the Hallé to work together and raise in the region of £50,000 towards the Charles Hallé Foundation over the years we have taken part.
"In many ways it is also about one historic Manchester institution being visible and present for one of the city’s big events – as our Team shirts say, we have been ‘running in Manchester since 1858’."
The Hallé Youth Orchestra brass section are also once more looking forward to being one of the Bands on the Run – in a prime position just near Hallé’s home, The Bridgewater Hall. Expect to hear a selection of motivational brass music that will bring a smile, make you run faster and channel your inner Rocky.
