Simplyhealth Great South Run Sells Out

Christmas Entries Open Soon Sitewide

SIMPLYHEALTH GREAT SOUTH RUN SELLS OUT – BUT YOU CAN STILL BE A PART OF THIS BIG WEEKEND OF SPORT

The hugely popular Simplyhealth Great South Run has reached its entry limit for the 30th event, which takes place on Sunday 20th October 2019.

Following unprecedented demand and to celebrate the 30th staging of the run, organisers worked hard to accommodate additional entries, releasing an extra 500 places this week.

The extra places sold out in just over 48 hours and the event, widely considered to be the world's favorite 10 mile run, has now reached full capacity. More than 20,500 runners are expected to take to the streets of Portsmouth across the weekend.

The event is the culmination of a big weekend of sport on the South coast, with the Simplyhealth Canine Run, the Simplyhealth Junior and Mini Great South Run and the Simplyhealth Great South 5k, all taking place on Saturday 19 October and still having places remaining.

Catherine Foster, Brand and Marketing Director for The Great Run Company said: “It's fantastic that so many people want to celebrate the 30th Great South Run with us, we've been overwhelmed by the popularity of the event over the years and even after 30 years it's still a firm favourite, with the local community coming out in force to offer support.

“Anyone who missed out on a place in the 10 mile run can still get in on the action of this great weekend of running, by running for one of our amazing official charities who still have places left. If 10 miles is a bit too far, they can try the Simplyhealth Great South 5k  and why not make a weekend of it and involve the whole family in the Simplyhealth Junior and Mini Great South Run and even having run around Southsea with their furry friends in the Simplyhealth Canine Run.”

The events take place in Southsea, starting and finishing on Clarence Esplanade and give children, families and adults of all running abilities the chance to be a part of an exciting weekend of running.

The 5k is perfect for those who want to tackle a shorter running route across a fast course, those who are new to running or who feel that their legs can no longer take the 10 mile course.

Participants get the chance to experience unrivalled local support, an electric atmosphere and beautiful views over the Solent.

It doesn't matter how you run, why you run, or how fast you run, join us on the 30th Great South Run weekend to run through history!
