We have listened to our runners and share their concerns around sustainability, so whilst still wanting to provide an important memento for each runner who takes part in a Great Run we are aware of the impact on the environment that unnecessary garment production has. As a result of this we have made the decision to introduce optional finisher tees to our Great Run events for 2023. Runners can choose to forgo their finisher tee shirt at the point of entry and in lieu of this we will make a donation to the National Trust Woodlands Appeal. Their ambition is to plant and establish 20million trees by 2030. Find out more here.
We will donate a portion of the fulfilment costs for each runner who chooses this option to the fund and commit that this donation to be approx. £20,000.
This initiative forms part of our pledge to minimise the environmental impacts of our events and move to embed sustainability at the heart of our organisation and culture. Find out more here.
Embedding greener initiatives into the DNA of any business should be a core objective, and here at The Great Run Company we are no different. That’s why we place the matter of sustainability at our heart and will continue to strive for greener, more environmentally friendly options, solutions, ideas and practices.
We want to ensure our events are great for people AND the planet. So here are a number of great improvements and enhancements we have made to continue to lessen that footprint.
