Lovebrum Team To Take On Great Birmingham Run

Christmas Entries Open Soon Sitewide

One of the city’s most popular corporate charities will be out in force at next month’s Simplyhealth Great Birmingham Run.

LoveBrum, which supports grassroots community projects across Birmingham, will have a team of 90 runners taking part in the half marathon.

The charity’s Executive Director described the support it is receiving at the annual event as overwhelming and is inviting people to join the team on Sunday, October 14.

LoveBrum members get to vote on the causes they would like to see receiving grants and recent beneficiaries include Wellcat, a charity dedicated to the rescue of cats and kittens, the Grade II listed Moseley Road Baths, and Acacia Family Support, which provides community-based support services to mothers and families affected by depression or anxiety.

One of the charity’s key events for 2018, the Simplyhealth Great Birmingham Run is seeing renewed interest for 2018 after organisers unveiled a new and improved route.

In a reverse of previous half marathon routes which finished along Broad Street, the event will now start on the city’s Golden Mile before taking runners to Highfield Road in Edgbaston and down the infamous hill of Lee Bank Middleway, once a challenging incline near the end of the run.

The 13.1-mile run features the Business Challenge, which invites office teams to compete for fastest-time trophies and those all-important bragging rights in the corporate world.

The Business Challenge is a great way of supporting CSR commitments, raising funds for company charities or foundations, or simply boosting office morale and team spirit in the workplace.

Paul Mitchell, Executive Director, LoveBrum, said: “LoveBrum is overwhelmed by the number of people who are taking on the challenge of this year’s Simplyhealth Great Birmingham Run to fundraise on behalf of the charity.

“The continued support we receive from businesses and individuals across Birmingham means this is a really exciting time for LoveBrum, with the charity going from strength to strength.

“The money raised will continue to have a huge impact on the hidden-gem projects that we support across Birmingham, as voted for by you each and every month. If you’d like to sponsor the team, please visit justgiving.com/companyteams/TeamLoveBrumHalfMarathon2018.
