Lord Mayor To Take Part In Great Birmingham 10K

Christmas Entries Open Soon Sitewide

Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr Shafique Shah, will be swapping his chains for trainers again as he prepares for the Morrisons Great Birmingham 10k on Sunday 3 May.

He'll be joined by Lady Mayoress, Sadia Shah, and fellow councillor and Lord Mayor elect, Cllr Ray Hassall, (the next Lord Mayor). They will all be raising money for the Lord Mayor's charities.

Lord Mayor Cllr Shafique Shah said: “I like to keep fit and I really enjoyed taking part in the Great Birmingham Run last year.  I'm hoping we can encourage more Brummies to get fit, take part in the 10k and help to raise money for my chosen charities.  Please support the valuable work carried out by Birmingham's Children's Hospital, Focus Birmingham, SIFA Fireside and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.”

This year's Lord Mayor's charities are: Birmingham Children's Hospital, Focus Birmingham, SIFA Fireside and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity.  Anyone wanting to make a donation to the Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal can make a cheque payable to ‘Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal 2014/15' and post to Lord Mayor's Office, Council House, Victoria Square, Birmingham B1 1BB or go online at www.justgiving.com/lordmayorbirmingham

New to the 2015 Great Run series, the Morrisons Great Birmingham 10k will give runners a choice of musical starting waves to choose from.  With music from the 70s, 80s, 90s and the 00s, the event promises to bring a party to the streets of Birmingham.
