Christmas Entries Open Soon Sitewide

The Junior & Mini Great North Run will return to the North East on Saturday 12 September, kicking off a great weekend of sport in the region which includes the Great North Run and Great North CityGames.

Six thousand young runners are expected to take part in what is now the biggest children’s running event in the country, which offers 1.5k and 4k distances for ages 3-8 and 9-16 respectively.

David Hart, Communications Director at Great Run said: “The Junior & Mini Great North Run is our flagship running event for children, and a true spectacle on the NewcastleGateshead Quayside, with thousands of runners of all abilities getting involved.

“Last year’s event reached its capacity in May and we expect a similar demand this year, which demonstrates just how popular they have become.”

The Mini event is part of INEOS GO Run For Fun, the UK’s newest mass participation running campaign for children, encouraging kids to get off the sofa, get active and have fun, regardless of ability. GO Run for Fun has teamed up with Great Run to deliver a series of large and small running events across the country aiming to inspire the next generation of sporting talent.

All finishers receive a t-shirt, medal, and finisher’s bag. To enter visit greatrun.org/north.
