Jaguar Land Rover Running For Cure Leukaemia At Gbr
Over 50 office staff from Jaguar Land Rover and 10 employees of their PR provider Pink Squid are set to run the inaugural Morrisons Great Birmingham Run to raise funds for Cure Leukaemia on Sunday October 18th.
Training has already begun in earnest for the employees of the iconic Midlands based car manufacturer who have set a target of over £12,000 in fundraising for Cure Leukaemia, a figure that would be worth £120,000 in potentially life-saving drugs for blood cancer patients in the region. Joining the Jaguar Land Rover team are ten employees of London-based PR agency Pink Squid and all the runners are excited to be a part of Team Cure Leukaemia.
Graham Thompsett, Head of Talent Acquisition at Jaguar Land Rover said, ‘We at Jaguar Land Rover are delighted to support Cure Leukaemia and the Morrisons Great Birmingham Run Birmingham Half Marathon. This event and the charity has captured our hearts and minds and hopefully will also have made us a little bit fitter. We are delighted to have the opportunity to put a little back.’
Tsz Wu, co-founder of Pink Squid said, “Delighted we can help, Cure Leukaemia is a charity everyone should be supporting. A 20k run! Well as they say, creativity is; 99% perspiration 1% inspiration.”
Over 800 runners have taken part in the Great Birmingham Run for Cure Leukaemia in the last two years raising over £200,000 for the blood cancer charity based in the Second City.
James McLaughlin, CEO of Cure Leukaemia said, “we are thrilled to have such a strong team from JLR and Pink Squid running for the charity. Jaguar Land Rover is a World Class brand based in the Midlands that has recognition on an international scale and this is mirrored by the work Cure Leukaemia supports. Professor Charlie Craddock and his team in the Centre for Clinical Haematology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham and across the region are able to administer pioneering treatments to blood cancer patients through Cure Leukaemia’s support that also has recognition worldwide. These are two shining examples of work taking place in the Midlands the region should be immensely proud of.”
