Iconic Athletics Weekly Magazine Relaunched
Athletics Weekly, the world's only weekly printed running and athletics magazine, has relaunched ahead of the Beijing IAAF World Championships. The magazine will feature a new masthead and design, whilst increasing pagination to 100 pages every week.
Founded in 1945, Athletics Weekly, alongside the fast growing athleticsweekly.com, covers news, comment, results, fixtures, coaching and product advice for all aspects of athletics, including track and field, cross-country and road racing. It is regarded as the authoritative voice of UK athletics.
In addition every month, starting September 10 and thereafter the first Thursday of each month, a new free magazine – Running Monthly – will be published, providing everything a runner needs to improve performance and focus on achieving running targets.
The relaunch of Athletics Weekly magazine complements the expansion in AW's online reach which has witnessed considerable growth in website and social media traffic over the past 12 months.
Richard Hughes, Publishing Director of Athletics Weekly, said “We are proud of the improved content, look and feel of AW. The magazine has stepped up a level and speaks with a far more authoritative voice. AW will continue to appeal to its current audience whilst engaging a far broader section of the running community. Running Monthly will talk direct to the runner who wants to get better.”
This relaunch is stage one in the development of Great Run Publishing, a multi-platform print and digital division of the Great Run Company. This will be delivered through the further development of the current portfolio of magazine and website brands, to operate within one framework, delivering news, events and performance advice to the running and athletics community.
The Great Run Company, organisers of the Great Run series, purchased ‘Athletics Weekly' from its previous owners earlier this year.
