From Barcelona To Uk For The Great Manchester Run

Keen runner Paul Reverter will be getting warm weather training for the Morrisons Great Manchester Run – at his home in Barcelona.

The Manchester United fan has lived in Catalonia for the last 27 years since his dad John, who is Spanish, took the family there.

Paul has always had a soft spot for his birthplace Eccles, making his appearance in the 10k Run on Sunday, May 10, a sentimental visit.

Paul said: "I miss home and managed to get back at least once a year before my two daughters Claire (6) and Elsa (3) were born. I'll be staying with my cousin Jackie Knight in Monton when I'm over and will also be going to Wales for a holiday later in the summer."

Wife Begoña entered him in Europe's biggest 10k run as a belated present for his 40th birthday last July.

Paul added: "I can assure you Barcelona's quite different to Eccles and it'd be difficult to move back. Once you get used to the weather, the life in the city and the food, you tend to think it's not possible to sacrifice this.

"However, when I go back to Manchester it brings back a 'being home' feeling that's hard to describe.

"I became a Barcelona fan for practical reasons and it's been terrible when they've played United because I didn't want either side to lose."
