The Foundation is committed to helping people young and old be more active, and feel happier and healthier through sports and well-being programmes across the North East. To celebrate the partnership, there will be a black and white wave on the day, with NUF runners wearing a special black and white striped run number in the clubs’ colours. The wave is open to all runners who want to show their support for The Foundation, simply select that you would like to join when you enter.

The 2024 route has everything runners loved last year – the famous AJ Bell Great North Run start line, the iconic Tyne Bridge, and a Newcastle city centre stretch that takes in plenty of famous landmarks including Grey’s Monument and Great North Museum, to name a few! Based on runner feedback from last year’s event, we’ve reduced most of the gravel running section to the finish line on the Town Moor. Expect a smooth out and back on the Great North Road, with plenty of high-energy tunes to help you along, before the final 1k Town Moor stretch to the grandstand finish.
