AJ Bell Great Bristol Run Business Challenge Champions
The Procentia Plodders were the proud winners of this year’s AJ Bell Great Bristol Run Business Challenge, coming in first for the 10k event.
The AJ Bell Great Bristol Run 2023 took place on Sunday 14 May, with over 12,000 runners of all ages and abilities taking part in the biggest celebration of running in the South West.
The event included 10k and half marathon routes that took in some of Bristol’s most iconic landmarks, stunning views, inspiring history and graffiti murals along the way, with the sun shining for much of the day.
The Business Challenge is a fast-growing part of the event and is open to any group of four or more colleagues. There’s no maximum number of team members and the finishing times of the fastest four members are used to calculate the overall team time.
Procentia is a pensions administrations software firm based in Emersons Green, Bristol, and its team of 17 runners were taking part in what has become a much-anticipated annual event for the company.
Lucy Richens, William Tinker, Simon Knapp and Dawn Crisp were Procentia’s four fastest finishers in the 10k distance with a combined time of 2:55:51.
“The AJ Bell Great Bristol Run is our local event and it’s become a great way to get colleagues together. It creates a real buzz around the office as the day approaches and we always enjoy the event itself,” said Lucy.
“With colleagues having different hybrid working arrangements, it’s been a chance for us to work together towards something outside of pensions software. It’s such a great bonus to have won the event and we can’t wait to take on the challenge in 2024!”
Taking the top spot for the Half-Marathon event was the team from Hargreaves Lansdown, with Matt Orgovanyi, Emilie Stevens, Matthew Nugent and Andrew Wilson the top four finishers. Their combined time was 6:09:24.
“Many congratulations to Procentia and Hargreaves Lansdown and a big thank you to all our Business Challenge teams for getting into the competitive but friendly spirit of the event while often raising much-needed funds for charity at the same time,” said Paul Foster, Chief Executive of the Great Run Company.
“As well as encouraging a healthy outlook for staff, training for a 10k or Half Marathon is an opportunity for team-building and to take home a first place Business Challenge plaque to display with pride.”
