With its popular course with inspiring scenery and graffiti murals at every turn, there are plenty of reasons why the AJ Bell Great Bristol Run is loved by thousands of runners in Bristol and beyond.
If you’re a first-timer, congratulations on signing up for the best in the South West – you certainly won’t regret it.
Both 10k and half marathon runners cross the finish line on Anchor Road, close to Millennium Square. After receiving your medal, finisher t-shirt and goody bag, you’ll also have the chance for a restorative drink, snack, or simply soak up some tunes and some atmosphere in the Great Run Apres Zone – but if you want to continue the celebrations, where should you head?
Millennium Square itself is a vibrant meeting spot, with plenty of cultural markers you can use to reunite with friends and family. Maybe you’ll arrange to meet them at the statue of Cary Grant, or perhaps the planetarium’s giant glitterball? There are also several places nearby where you can grab a bite to eat or a drink, before heading back to the square to enjoy them in the sunshine (fingers crossed).
You’re also close to Queen’s Square: a magnificent Georgian park. If you’re meeting friends and family, it’s perfect for picnics and relaxed gatherings.
After all those miles you won’t feel like walking far, but Bristol’s Harbourside is just a short stroll from the finishing point and is worth the extra steps. Here, you’re likely to find a Sunday Market, plus an extensive range of waterside eateries and bars, including independent venues in the trendy Wapping Wharf neighbourhood. Whether you fancy a coffee or a cocktail, the Harbourside will deliver.
The countdown is officially on. Get ready, Bristol – we’re coming for you!
